University to establish media industrial park in Qiantang

A special industrial park bringing together media corporations founded by alumni of Zhejiang University of Media and Communications was set up in Qiantang district, Hangzhou, capital of East China's Zhejiang province, on April 25.

It is Qiantang's first industrial park that was co-founded by the government, a university,and its alumni.

The park, which covers an area of 20,628 square meters, is designed to provide a platform for alumni of Zhejiang University of Media and Communications to start businessesin the media industry by making use of local educational resources.

Qiantang has the biggesthigher education park in Zhejiang province, whichbrings together 14 universities and colleges thathave more than 250,000 teachers and students in total.

The local government has set up an evaluation mechanism for officials to assess their work on promoting cooperation between Qiantang, universities,and alumni, the official added.

Li Tao, general manager of Zhejiang Xida Investment Management Company, who is also a 2006 graduate majoring in editing and publishing at Zhejiang University of Media and Communications, founded a corporation to connectcompanies and the industrial park.

To date, Qiantang has carried out over 20 key projects in partnership with universities, including the Joint Invention Center of Hangzhou Dianzi University and the Zhejiang Gongshang University-University of Sussex AI School.

More than 2,000 projects that are driven byalumni of Zhejiang universities have been settled in Qiantang.
