In recent years, with the improvement of water quality in Jianghai wetland of Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, a large number of rare birds are spotted. Recently, the platalea minors, also known as "black-faced dancer", have appeared in this area.

Their long, flat and spoon-shaped mouths are very similar to the pipa, a Chinese lute with four strings. At present, there are only around 4,000 platalea minors recorded all over the world.

According to the latest survey of bird diversity, Jianghai wetland has become a haven for many birds. The survey shows that there are 140 species of birds recorded in 49 families of 16 orders, including 18 species of key protected birds in Zhejiang province and 19 species of national second-class key protected birds.
