A new service featuring "scanning the code to rent bicycle without deposit" was launched on Jan 7. Riders can now borrow a public bicycle without paying a deposit after passing the real-name certification via the "Dingda Chuxing" (叮嗒出行) app.
Painted red, the public bicycles debutted in Hangzhou in 2008. Citizens were required to pay for the 200-yuan deposit before renting the bike. Now by scanning the code to rent the bike, they need not pay the cash pledge anymore.
After the service has been launched, riders can rent bicycles via the app and the mini-program at WeChat and Alipay.
The service is now available in the main urban area, Xiaoshan District and Yuhang District of the city.
