The Global Mayors Dialogue and the 9th Hangzhou International Sister City Mayors Conference kicked off in Hangzhou on Sept 25, with mayors or representatives of 24 cities in 15 countries and regions sharing insights on urban governance and sustainable development.

Let us look back at stories about exchanges between Hangzhou and its sister cities.

Hangzhou and Boston (USA) became sister cities in 1982. In March, the Third Global Digital Trade Expo Promotion was held in Boston to deepen cooperation between two cities in fields including digital trade and smart city.

Hangzhou and Budapest (Hungary) became sister cities in 1999. In May, Hangzhou delegation visited Budapest. Both parties exchanged views on heritage protection, cultural tourism, industrial development and urban construction.

Hangzhou and Leeds (UK) became sister cities in 1988. In June, Hangzhou delegation visited Leeds and participated in the UK's Real Estate Investment & Infrastructure Forum to promote cooperation between two cities.

Hangzhou and Kazan (Russia) became sister cities in 2003. In August, Hangzhou delegation visited Kazan and took part in the Founding Congress of "BRICS+" Cities Alliance.
