The fertile fields of Shunhu village in Puyang town, Xiaoshan district, Hangzhou ushered in their most splendid season on Nov 2, local media outlets reported.
The golden rice heads bowed gracefully, laden with grains, while two harvesters traversed the fields.
Shunhu village embarked on a program of plowing and reseeding last June. In an experimental endeavor, 32 mu (2.13 hectares) of paddy fields were cultivated using protein nutrient liquid. The liquid is a bio-stimulant and not chemically synthesized. It is known to significantly improve plant nutrient absorption and enhance produce quality.
"According to our measurements, the rice cultivated with the protein nutrient liquid weighs nearly 3 grams more per thousand grains than the previous crops, and the rice grains are notably plumper," said agricultural technician Wang Dilong.
