Lin'an district of Hangzhou, East China's Zhejiang, is famous for bamboo resources. Recently, the district has been turning deserted lands into bamboo fields to better support locals economically. 

A new type of bamboo shoots, fruit bamboo shoots, was developed to bring more income to the local residents. Unlike normal bamboos shoots which need to be fully cooked before eating, fruit bamboo shoots can be eaten directly. The price of the newly developed bamboo shoots is also higher than normal ones.
