Worthy exhibitions during the Spring Festival in Hangzhou

Besides going to park and shopping, visiting exhibitions to broaden horizon is another good choice for the upcoming Spring Festival.

Hangzhou offers a variety of exhibitions ranging from jade ware, oil painting and woodwork to clothing exhibition, as well as rabbit-related special exhibitions for the Year of the Rabbit. Here are some tips on going to exhibitions. 

Song-style Woodwork Culture Exhibition 

The exhibition displays a total of 77 objects, including timbers, tools, architecture models, imitated wooden structures from Song tomb in Shaoxing Lanruo Temple, and wooden sewers of Lin’an in the Southern Song Dynasty, as well as Song-style furniture specially copied from Song paintings. The exhibition fully displays the marvelous woodwork culture of the Song Style, from decorative ornaments and production tools to furniture. 

Time: From January 1 to February 5, 2023 (Closed on Monday)

Special Exhibition for the Year of the Rabbit 

Chinese people indicate each year with one of 12 zodiac animals; this year happens to be the Year of the Rabbit. The exhibition displays over 70 rabbit-themed specimens and cultural relics, including Northeast China Rabbit and South China Rabbit, introduces the rabbit-related scientific and cultural knowledge from the aspects of nature, society and culture, and guides the audience to make in-depth exploration of the world of rabbit. 

Time: From January 12 to April 12, 2023 (Closed on Monday)

Exhibition of Zhejiang Oil Paintings in the Past Century 

The exhibition presents over 280 oil paintings created by painters of three generations, including old, middle and young generations, and displays the achievements of Zhejiang Province in respect of major historical themes in the past one hundred years.

Exhibition of Chinese Costume Designs in the Past 30 Years 

The exhibition displays the award-winning works at China International Competition of Fashion Designs by Young Designers and the works of emerging designers in the international fashion stage and shows the changes and progress of China fashion designs from the perspectives of design creation, international exchanges, media communication and fashion education. 

Time: From January 1 to February 19, 2023
