Hangzhou has recently announced to establish China’s first mind sports university that focuses on cultivating mind sports professional athletes and professional sports commentators.
The university, with a total of 336 students, sets up 8 majors, including Go, Xiangqi, Chess, Draught, Bridge, UAV, Programming, and Esports Hosting & Commentary, offering chances for students who love mind sports to enjoy learning professional knowledge and receive professional training.
Its precursor, Hangzhou Go School, was founded in 2005 and had been a cradle for training national Go champions. The university has filled the gap in vocational education and upgraded esports from a game to a professional sport. It will create more job opportunities for students by attracting more enterprises to recruit graduates from the university.
