East China's Zhejiang province held a signing ceremony in its capital city Hangzhou on Nov 7 with suppliers of import drugs, medical consumables and medical devices that have reached purchase intention agreements with it.

As a sideline event organized by Zhejiang to demonstrate its eagerness to participate in the China International Import Expo, the signing ceremony has been held for five consecutive years and this year's edition witnessed a combined contract value of 9.79 billion yuan ($1.35 billion).

A number of industrial leaders, such as Pfizer, Johnson Johnson, and Boston Scientific, have brought their latest products and technologies to the event.

The Zhejiang Provincial Center for Drug and Medical Device Procurement signed purchase intention deals with imported drug suppliers Roche, Novartis, and MSD, as well as with medical consumable suppliers Medtronic and Johnson Johnson.

The Zhejiang Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, First Affiliated Hospital of Wenzhou Medical University, and Children's Hospital Affiliated to the School of Medicine of Zhejiang University reached purchase intention agreements with imported medical equipment suppliers such as General Electronics, Philips, and Siemens.

The event also opened a channel accessing the ongoing 5th CIIE's medical equipment & healthcare product exhibition area, enabling visitors to learn about the suppliers' latest products and promotions.
