The Fuyang Yinhu Sports Centre, which will serve as the shooting, archery and modern pentathlon venue for the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022, won the Merit Award of the 2022 IES Illumination Award, one of the most authoritative and oldest lighting design awards in the world.

The light design, by the Lighting Design Institute of UAD, also won the Exterior Architectural Illumination of the LIT Design Awards in 2021, another annual lighting design competition under the 3C Awards, a leading organization that curates exhibitions and makes promoting designs across the globe.

The Centre located in Fuyang district is one of the 12 newly built Hangzhou Asian Games venues. The Fuchun River, flowing around the Centre, is known for Dwelling in the Fuchun Mountains, a legendary Chinese landscape painting drawn by Huang Gongwang in the Yuan Dynasty.

The Centre consists of the comprehensive shooting hall, press and security center, four fields (skeet range, archery field, equestrian field, running and shooting area) and stables.

The shooting hall is designed to perfectly integrate the venue with the mountains. The venue's roof is shaped like a curved herringbone surface to echo the hill. The curtain wall comprises 34,000 rotating louvers, 11,560 of which outline a "mountain" pattern. In shifting light and shadows, the landscape of the famous painting is vividly displayed on the facade.

The mountain-shaped facade, with customized lenses and shells, ensures that each lamp fits louvers with different angles to show dynamic or static "mountain" images. Lights are on as required to save energy.
