Jin Lixin, the 68-year-old retired police officer, carries his old-fashioned enamel teacup and give English lessons to children of the vendors in Dongcheng Farmers' Market in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province.

Though he was not an English professional, he can speak English fluently. That is out of his love of English since childhood. Jin worked as a farmer in the countryside when he was young, when he kept listening to English programs on the radio.

Jin has been teaching English for eight years. In 2014, Jin got his first student when buying vegetables in the market. The girl was reading English out loud near her parent's vegetable stand, so Jin spent some time with her and taught her English for free.

After that, many vendors sent their children over to learn English. Jin set two rules for his classes: one is that he will not teach those who give money, and the other is not to teach those who do not learn. These two rules won him respect from parents.

Over the years, Jin has taught 40 to 50 children with his first student now a sophomore at college. "As long as they need me, I will continue to teach for another five years, or ten years," said Jin.
