Construction recently started on a 50,000-ton polyamide chemical fiber textile manufacturing center supported by East China's Hangzhou, a city with a strong textile industry, in Aksu in Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region.

Hangzhou Yiniu Chemical Fiber Co, a professional polyester special fiber and knitted fabric manufacturer founded in 2009, offered technical support and 1 billion yuan ($148.6 million) for the project.

The center is expected to be able to produce about 50,000 tons of nylon, 20,000 tons of knitted fabric, and 50 million meters of woven fabric annually, generating an annual output value of 1.5 billion yuan and creating about 1,000 jobs.

The center will meet the diverse needs of local garment fabrics and speed up the development of the whole textile and garment industrial chain.

"Aksu is an important part of the Silk Road Economic Belt and supports economic and cultural exchanges between the East and the West. It has advantageous geography, abundant resource and a vibrant culture, with huge development potential and broad prospects," said Chen Liangfu, chairman of Hangzhou Yiniu Chemical Fiber Co.
