I am so fortunate to be able to get an offer from Zhejiang University, such an outstanding yet competitive university. And now I can finally explore more about the city--Hangzhou for a longer period.

I have been living in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province since I was two and half years old as my parents moved there to do business. For vacations, my family used to visit the West Lake and Leifeng Pagoda. I still remember my first visit to Hangzhou when I was ten years old. The city was elegant and romantic with huge canopy arch shading both sides of city roads, and autumn leaves falling to the ground like little ballerinas finishing a pirouette in the ending scene.

I remember that I loved the stationery store near the West Lake, which was filled with pens and notebooks of all patterns and colors. Most of the notebooks had the beautiful West Lake views on the cover. However my favorite one was the bookmark in the shape of gold fish, which in China symbolizes luck and health. So I have kept the bookmark over the years and still use it sometimes.

I remember in one of the lessons I learned at the elementary school, when the teacher talked about a beautiful but tragic folk tale, which was called The Legend of White Snake. It's a very famous traditional Chinese love story that took place on the West Lake. I cried for days after learning that story, and I fell in love with Hangzhou since then as I had great interest in tragic romance stories.

With beautiful traditional architectures, lively street lights shining at night, romantic stories and legends still to be discovered, and a boosting economy with infinite possibilities, Hangzhou is a city that I am always excited to stay and explore.

Besides, Hangzhou was selected as the host city of the Asian Games. How excited I am! As a new comer, I am really looking forward to exploring the city in the future.
