Zhejiang Xiaobaihua Shaoxing Opera Troupe put on the first contemporary Shaoxing Opera Qiantangli at Hangzhou Butterfly Theater on the evening of May 20.

When riding electric bicycle through crammed streets at evening rush hour, Fang Xiaomi accidentally knocked down Ms. Jin, a former teacher and a member of senior model team, and ran away in panic. Two families met along Qiantang River due to the accident and staged a story about love and kindness in Qiantangli.

“This is an adult's fairy tale in Qiantangli”, said Wang Yansong, the director of the opera, when summarizing the general style of Shaoxing Opera that was based on real life. Xie Lihong, the playwright, hoped that audiences may be inspired by the opera to hold a positive attitude towards life despite of difficulties and mishaps.
