On April 27, residents in Hangzhou received an open letter from the local government, which informed the public that Hangzhou would conduct a regular nucleic acid testing in the districts of Shangcheng, Gongshu, Xihu, Binjiang, Xiaoshan, Yuhang, Linping, Qiantang and West Lake Scenic Area. To be specific, since April 28, it has become mandatory that everyone in Hangzhou takes a nucleic acid testing in every 48 hours to enter public places or use public transportation freely.

To facilitate the implementation of the policy, the government planned to set up 10,000 free nucleic acid testing places to ensure that everyone in Hangzhou can go on foot within 15 minutes and wait in queue for less than 30 minutes.

Since April 19, Hangzhou has experienced a local COVID-19 outbreak, mainly caused by the evolutionary branch of Omicron BA.2.2, which features rapid transmission, strong infectivity and short incubation period.

This round of local outbreak was characterized by multiple chains in parallel, family aggregation, and insidiousness. Thanks to the joint efforts of all the residents in Hangzhou, the outbreak has been effectively controlled.

The city will adhere to the dynamic zero-COVID policy, to build a strong line of defense in response to the disease, to strive for the maximum benefits of prevention and control at a minimal cost, and to return the residents of Hangzhou a normal life as soon as possible.

On this basis, more testing places will be set up, the opening hours and the distribution of resources will be optimized according to the public needs. The location, name and opening hours of the testing places can be searched real time via the green health QR codes and the Amap App, or the traditional media and bulletin board, say, newspapers, SMS and community posters.
