Chinese sprinter Su Bingtian said that he is now preparing for the World Athletics Championships in July and the Asian Games in September, though he may not reach top as he did in Tokyo 2020 due to "age and injury reasons."

After four months of winter training, the Chinese flying man confirmed in a public interview on Tuesday that he will attend the two events, shrugging off rumors of retirement after he became the first Chinese runner to qualify for men's 100 meters final in the Tokyo Olympic Games in 2021.

"Because of my age and injuries, maybe I won't break the record again, but I hope my experience can be passed down to the next generation who want to succeed in their sprinting career," Su said.

Hailed as "God Su" by fans, Su broke the Asian sprint record and became the first Asian-born athlete to run the 100 meters in under 10 seconds with a result of in 9.98 seconds.

The 32-year-old has become famous since breaking the record, receiving invitations to become a brand ambassador and associate professor at Jinan University in South China's Guangdong Province.

Yet as Asia's fastest sprinter, Su remains confident in his ability.

After the winter training, Su said that he will start the outdoor training season as his next preparation for the World Championships in Eugene, the US and the Asian Games in Hangzhou, East China's Zhejiang Province.

Su said that due to multiple reasons, he may not be able to perform as well as he did in the Olympic Games in Tokyo, but he hopes that his attendance in the world championships can "encourage the future young Chinese sprinters."
