If you drive in Hangzhou, you may find that new signs have appeared on roads recently, especially before the zebra crossings.
The yellow grid lines, which means no stop inside, have been painted at 576 major intersections across urban Hangzhou. As a buffer and warning, the yellow grid lines require drivers to stop earlier at the intersection to keep a safe distance between the vehicles and the zebra crossing, and give them more time to react to road hazard.
Besides, diamond-shaped notice patterns and zipper marks were also applied on the city streets to create visual effect making lanes look narrower or remind drivers that a zebra crossing or intersection is about to appear, to slow down the cars in advance.
More "reflective road studs" can be spotted on roads at the deceleration lines, which help remind the drivers when driving at night.
