Do you know sanitation vehicles and large trucks in Hangzhou are slowly switching to clean energy rather than burning fossil fuel?

The upgraded sanitation vehicles not only reduce 90 percent of carbon emissions but also save 20-30 percent of operational costs. Besides, it is proved to limit the emission of carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide, and lead dust.

According to the three-year action plan of emission reduction from motorized transportation in the main urban area of Hangzhou, it strives to maintain an 80 percent level of cars using clean energy among new cars by 2021.

Transportation used for environmental sanitation, public work construction, as well as logistics and courier vehicles in the urban build-up area aims to achieve 30 percent of clean energy consumption by 2023, according to Zhang Ping, the director of the environmental department of Hangzhou Urban Management and Law Enforcement.

The roll-out of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) sanitation vehicles in November 2020 was well-received. According to the manager of Hangzhou Sinopec and Fuel energy Ltd, the company has been actively contributing to the build-up of liquefied natural gas stations in Hangzhou since 2011. Currently, there are 11 liquefied natural gas stations that provide energy to up to 7,000 vehicles using Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) or 1500 vehicles using LNG.
