Introduction:
Pisa is a historical and cultural city in the Tuscany region of Central Italy straddling the Arno just before it empties into the Ligurian Sea. The city of about 100,000 residents covers 190 square kilometers. It has a developed tourism industry, and its textile industry, leather industry and commercial trade are relatively developed.
The city is also Italy’s well-known education center. It is home of the University of Pisa, one of the most ancient universities in Europe, as well as the Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa, founded by Napoleon in 1813.
