Hangzhou's Tonglu county, the hometown of China's delivery industry, is determined to develop a strong medical equipment industry, local media reported on Sept 2.

In July, the China Association for Medical Devices Industry signed a three-year cooperation agreement with the government of Tonglu to co-develop the county's medical device industry. Medical equipment companies from Beijing and Shijiazhuang signed cooperation deals with the local government.

According to local authorities, the county now has 64 companies that specialize in manufacturing medical equipment and 1,919 companies having businesses related to medical devices.

According to official statistics, the output of Tonglu's medical equipment companies grew by 25.9 percent year-on-year in 2020. Local authorities said the growth of minimally invasive equipment industry was the main contributor of this growth. The county has also offered favorable policies for intelligent property rights protection and fundraising.
