Hangzhou was ranked 1st in the list of “Top 10 livestreaming Cities” in China, released by Taobao Live, the livestreaming unit of e-commerce giant Alibaba, on Dec. 29 in terms of the number and the growth index of online influencers.
The local e-commerce livestreaming (dubbed "live commerce") ecosystem is thriving.
Headquartered in Hangzhou, Alibaba has invested heavily in this growing sector, broadcasting about 10 thousand livestreaming hosts a day on Taobao Live.
Sales of brands jumped in partnership with top-tier online influencers such as Viya, and Lie'er baby, all of whom are based in Hangzhou.
As many as 50 MCN agencies and over 10 industrial bases for live commerce have emerged in the city, and the numbers are still growing.
Not only for sales, numerous food and travel influencers popped up in Hangzhou, as the city is reputed for delicious food and beautiful landscape.
