On 30 August, a comprehensive rehearsal titled "A Typical Games Day" for Hangzhou Asian Games was carried out. Following the established plan and focusing on the operations on September 26, the third day after the Asian Games opening ceremony, all teams responsible for the Games participated in the rehearsal.
Consisting of drills for 21 important procedures and responses to 27 simulated contingencies, the comprehensive rehearsal was divided into six scenarios: Arrivals & Departures Services, Village Operations, Media Services, Event Operations, Competition Organisation, and Victory Ceremony.
"To improve our event management expertise of the teams, during this rehearsal, we've placed particular emphasis on managing unforeseen circumstances. Hence, the rehearsal shall simulate scenarios of real incidents that occurred in the previous multi-sport events to test the teams' response in the context of Hangzhou Asian Games," stated Mao Genhong, Deputy Secretary General of the Hangzhou Municipal Government, Deputy Secretary General of the Hangzhou Asian Games Organising Committee, and Deputy Director of the Main Operations Centre Executive Office.
Mao indicated that the rehearsal aims to test the implementation, hospitality, stress resilience, and coordination capabilities of all responsible units and teams through hands-on drills. All the participating units should timely review and summarise their actual performance, identify specific weak points and perfect the solutions, so as to ensure that the Games-time operations of Hangzhou Asian Games can be carried out at their best.
