On August 24th, with 30 days to go until Hangzhou Asian Games, Hangzhou Asian Games and Hangzhou Asian Para Games Volunteers Commencement Ceremony was held at Zhejiang University Zijingang Gymnasium. 1,800 representative volunteers at the scene extended an invitation to the world: "Friends Unite!"
The volunteer service team, spirited and flag-bearing, signifies the full transition of Hangzhou Asian Games and Hangzhou Asian Para Games volunteer service work to the final sprint stage of the competition.
Currently, 37,600 volunteers have assembled, ready to provide meticulous services in their best conditions during the competitions, offering the most standardized and professional services for these upcoming sports and cultural events, showcasing the spirit of Chinese youth to Asia and the world.
The recruitment of volunteers for Hangzhou Asian Games and Hangzhou Asian Para Games began in May, 2021. After global recruitment and supplementary recruitment, a total of 317,000 people were successfully registered. The Hangzhou Asian Games Organising Committee selected 37,600 volunteers through online registration, preliminary selection, interviews, general training, venue training, job training, and service guarantee tests. The volunteers mainly come from 46 universities in Zhejiang and also include professionals in competitions, minority languages translators, and medical care personnel from key societal sectors. In addition, there are about 400 volunteers from other provinces and about 400 from other representative groups. The volunteer team is professional, representative, extensive, and international.
The service categories of the volunteers mainly include competition operation services, registration and certification services, protocol and language services, arrival and departure services, ceremony activities services, spectator services, media operation services, logistical support services, transportation services, official meeting services, Asian Games Village and official reception hotel services, and information services. The volunteers will serve in more than 90 competition venues, independent training venues, and special work teams.
