Nepal women's kabaddi team to train in India prior to Hangzhou Asian Games

Kathmandu, Nepal, August 21, 2023: The President of Nepal Olympic Committee, Jeevan Ram Shrestha, bid farewell to the Nepali women's kabaddi team which left for India for a month-long training session prior to the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China.

A 12-strong team, led by skipper Menuka Kumari Rajvanshi, was given an official send-off at the Nepal Olympic Committee headquarters in Satdobato last Saturday.

The squad will take part in special training and play seven practice matches against top-class opposition at the Gurukul Academy in Haryana, India.

In his farewell address, President Shrestha said: "We believe that this special training will help the Nepalese team in their participation and we hope they can perform well at the Hangzhou Asian Games."

Also present at the ceremony were NOC Vice President and Executive Director Chaturananda Raj Vaidya, All Nepal Kabaddi Association President Arbind Kumar Jha, Association Secretary Tarkaj Bhatta and NOC executive member Niranjan Shrestha.
