Two events are held to select athletes of the Chinese Gymnastics Team for the Hangzhou Asian Games and the World Championships from August 16 to 19.

Zhang Hongliang, an official of the national gymnastics team, explained that the selection criteria for the men's and women's teams differ. "For the men, as we secured Olympic qualification in last year's World Championships, we are focusing more on the Asian Games while still considering the World Championships. Our goal is to send competitive athletes to both events and provide young athletes with ample training opportunities. For the women, since Olympic qualification depends on this year's World Championships, priority will be given to selecting participants for the World Championships while also considering the Asian Games. Our aim is to train and evaluate young athletes through the competition."

After the two selective trials, the national gymnastics team coaching staff will comprehensively assess and select the athletes for the Hangzhou Asian Games and World Championships. For the Hangzhou Asian Games, the entry list consists of five men and five women, along with two male and two female reserve candidates. For the World Championships, the entry list consists of five men and five women, with three male and three female reserve candidates.
