Recently, a wooden structure building - "Yungui" Service Centre has been unveiled in Hangzhou's Asian Games Village, including waiting areas, resting spaces, and restroom facilities for technical officials and media reporters.
An aerial view of the roof of "Yungui" is assembled using pentagon-shaped segments resembling osmanthus petals. This design aims to convey the enthusiastic anticipation of the host city with osmanthus, the city flower of Hangzhou. Inside the building, classical elements such as Chinese characters and scrolls have been creatively integrated into the backdrop design, showcasing traditional Chinese aesthetics.
"The architectural core derives from the interlocking structure of China's traditional wooden bucket arch, and it is interconnected using steel components resembling tenons and mortises," Chen Mingrong, the relevant person in charge of the Asian Games Village, introduced.
It has been reported that a modular design approach was employed during construction to ensure the building's overall structure could be dismantled and reused multiple times. In essence, this building could be repurposed for various architectural scenes after the Games. This aligns perfectly with the guiding principles of the Hangzhou Asian Games: "Green, Smart, Economical, Ethical".
