On July 16, the 2023 China · Shaoxing (Shangyu) Chinese and Foreign Famous Collegiate Rowing Regatta kicked off. This event attracted students from 16 renowned Chinese and foreign universities, including Oxford, Cambridge, Harvard, the University of Sydney, Peking University, and Tongji University, to gather in Shangyu, Shaoxing, Zhejiang to compete on the water.

The competition comprises two events - men's 1000m Eight with Coxswain and women's 1000m Quadruple Sculls without Coxswain. The teams from the University of Otago and Harvard clinched the champions.

In recent years, rowing has caught on among Chinese universities, and rowing competitions between Chinese and foreign universities have gained in popularity. Before the regatta, participants visited the Shangyu Museum to learn about traditional Chinese culture.

Sport events have brought great opportunities for regional economic development and cultural exchanges.
