See canoes and electric boats? The Water Playground of the Hangzhou's Sports Park was just opened, enabling people living in the city north to play water games "on the doorstep."

The Park covering 45 hectares is Hangzhou's first sports park with beautiful scenes for an eco-balance and leisure. The air quality is excellent thanks to its forests covering 340,000 sqm., or a green coverage rate (GCR) of 86%, together with a man-made lake of 38,000 sqm.. The park has been a host venue for the Yangtze River Delta Water Sports Festival for three years, attracting thousands of water sports fans every year.

It is learned that pedal boats, canoes, water tricycles, electric boats as well as yellow duck, white rabbit, dolphin, white goose-shaped boats were added to meet different requirements of families and friend groups.

Over 50 people, including water sports fans, tried the games. Fang Qin, a local mother coming all the way with her son, said "I heard the water sports were unveiled, so I brought my son to try first. He likes water. We can even take a boat ride. It's good for a summer break."

The most popular one is canoeing. Wang Liang, a citizen from Dengta Haoyuan nearby, said "The site I went canoeing was 10 kilometers away from my home, it's too far. Now the place is only a few steps away. Wonderful!"

"To cater for people's needs for water sports, we decided to bring the lake back to them. We made it a part of the Sports Park with fitness or leisure programs," said an official from Dongxin Sub-district Administration. They would offer an Asian Games route that connects the park with Xintiandi and other places, and they believe it's the best practice for people to access the thrills of sports.
