On June 20, the "Exciting Hangzhou" 2023 Asian Sepaktakraw Championships took place at the Jinhua Sports Centre Stadium. The event attracted over 70 athletes from eight men's and women's teams, representing seven countries and regions.
Sepaktakraw, has enjoyed popularity in Southeast Asia for centuries. It incorporates elements from various sports such as volleyball, football, badminton, acrobatics, and martial arts, making it a highly skilled and captivating sport with both entertainment and competitive value. The competition features two categories: team and quadrant, and the champions, runners-up, and third-place winners are determined through a round-robin format using a points system.
In the opening match, the Chinese women's team triumphed over the Philippine women's team with a score of 2-0. In the men's team match between India and South Korea, India emerged victorious with a score of 2-1. In the women's team match between Chinese Taipei and Vietnam, Vietnam secured a 2-0 victory.
