The public notice period of the tennis qualification selection program for the Hangzhou Asian Games released by the General Administration of Sport of China ended on April 13. The list of qualified Chinese tennis players has been basically determined, with Hangzhou local player Wu Yibing, as well as Zhang Zhizhen and Zheng Qinwen having a high probability of securing the qualification.
China's top 2 ATP men's singles players and the top 2 WTA women's singles players will qualify for the Hangzhou Asian Games in singles, with the ranking subject to the May 30 deadline.
In the latest ATP ranking, Wu Yibing is ranked 55th, further securing the highest ranking in the history of men's tennis of the Chinese mainland. Zhang Zhizhen is ranked 95th. Shang Juncheng is ranked 182nd, far behind Wu and Zhang in points, which obviously cannot be overcome in the near term. Therefore, Wu Yibing and Zhang Zhizhen are likely to represent China in the men's singles at the Hangzhou Asian Games.
On women's singles, Zheng Qinwen, Zhang Shuai and Zhu Lin are ranked top three in China. Zhang Shuai's recent injury may disturb her ranking, and Zhu Lin may have the opportunity to join Zheng Qinwen to become the Hangzhou Asian Games players.
