Youbu Soy Milk, a 28-year-old restaurant which recently opened a new shop on Zhongshan South Road, has become one of the most popular breakfast places in the city.

It sells more than 1,000 bowls of soy milk per day, according to Ye Jun, the owner of the shop. On Dec 26, sales reached a new high of 1,021 bowls, 70 percent of which were salty soy milk.

Fried bread sticks, also known asyoutiao, and layered flatbread known asshaobing, are the most popular snacks among the nearly 20 food items the shop serves. Both are priced at 3 yuan ($43 cents).

The shop has recently become popular among tourists due to its good reputation.

"I've been having breakfast at the shop for a dozen years," said one regular customer. "I like the fried bread stickthe most. It's bigger than at other restaurants."

Another regular customer from Shanghai even had the shop's layered flatbread sent home via express.

According to Ye, he plans to turn the old site of his restaurant, which is around 50 meters away from the new one, into a grocery store selling specialties from his hometown of Youbu in Jinhua.

"As I expand my soy milk business, Ialso want to contribute to the development of my hometown," said Ye.
