The Sino-Italian cooperation in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic is being celebrated in a new set of comic books and stamps created by the Communication University of Zhejiang (CUZ).

The online and offline release ceremonies for the themed cultural products were simultaneously held in the Chinese cities of Hangzhou and Beijing as well as in the Italian cities of Rome, Venice and Milan on Dec 17.

Among the attendees of these ceremonies were Pier Paolo Baretta, undersecretary at the Italian Ministry of Economy and Finance, Robert Parua, an official at the UNESCO Beijing Office, Zhang Kaibing, Chinese deputy consul-general in Milan, and Lian Xiaomin, chairperson of the Zhejiang Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese.

The Italian-language comic book, titledThe Defensive Line of Life, was compiled by CUZ scholars. The book covers the coronavirus' route of transmission, symptoms, diagnosis, and various ways that people can take precautions.

The publication is the CUZ's second comic book themed around pandemic measures that is targeted at the international market. The previous one, written in Mongolian, was published in Mongolia in cooperation with UNESCO in October.

The commemorative stamps, consisting of 12 sets of stamps and two postcards, are a joint effort by the CUZ and China Post. They include cartoon images featuring Mongolian and Italian characters.

Xu Xiaozhou, president of CUZ and the person in charge of the themed cultural products, said:" The pandemic transcends national borders. The comic book is a tribute to international friendship and tremendous confidence in the face of the pandemic."
