Hangzhou urban management solution to be promoted in HK
en.hangzhou.com.cn 2019/04/12 09:55 ehangzhou.gov.cn

Hangzhou's "City Brain", an intelligent system for urban management, will debut at the Hong Kong International ICT Expo 2019 from April 13 to 16, local media reported.

Developed by Alibaba Group's cloud computing arm Alibaba Cloud in 2017, the system is used to optimize the management of traffic and handle urban governance issues based on big data, cloud computing and artificial intelligence.

This marks the first time the project has been shown at an international exhibition and is significant to Hangzhou's efforts in promoting itself, according to Niu Jian from the Hangzhou Development and Reform Commission.

Over 20 Hangzhou-based hi-tech companies, including Alibaba Cloud, Ant Financial, Hikvision and H3C Group, will also showcase their latest technologies at the exhibition.

"Our participation not only opens up new possibilities for cooperation between Hangzhou and Hong Kong, but also conveys to the world that Hangzhou is not only at the forefront of smart city development in China, but also a pioneer in city brain development," said Niu.

In recent years, as Hangzhou rapidly develops, the city's relationship with Hong Kong in terms of economy, trade, science and technology, and talent has become stronger, especially when it comes to smart city development.

In 2018, Hong Kong mapped a blueprint to build a smart city which was in line with Hangzhou's "City Brain" solution.

Last year, Hangzhou and Hong Kong also signed a memorandum in the high-end service industry, calling for Hangzhou hi-tech enterprises to expand business globally by making use of international platforms and talents provided by Hong Kong.

Hangzhou's international development is inseparable from the internationalization of the industry. The "City Brain" exhibit in Hong Kong demonstrates Hangzhou's strength in cultivating innovation and entrepreneurship through digital economy and the environment, said Niu.

The system will be extended from transportation management to urban management, housing, public security and market regulation this year and will expand to cover the Asian Games, tourism, environmental protection and fire prevention by 2022.
