Zhou stressed that the project, initiated in 2014, is designed to provide quality domestic water to the residents of urban areas and main districts in Hangzhou. After being briefed on the recent progress being made on some reservoirs and distribution wells, Zhou expressed satisfaction with the early construction work, and said that more efforts should be made in raising awareness of water conservancy and promoting the reuse of water. Qiandao Lake, located to the west of Hangzhou, is a famous man-made lake and reservoir. With 17.8 billion cubic meters of water storage, it boasts what some say is the best water quality in China. It is expected that most residents in urban Hangzhou will have water sourced from the lake within the year.
