The China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT) Artificial Intelligence Hangzhou Research Center, a joint venture between CAICT and Hangzhou, was unveiled on April 3. The new center, located in the Zhejiang Hangzhou Future Sci-Tech City in Yuhang district, is designed to promote the development of artificial intelligence (AI) and 5G technology by leveraging the think tank and platform advantages of CAICT as well as the industrial and talent competitiveness of Sci-Tech City. Over the years, Yuhang has consistently adhered to an innovation-driven development strategy and taken digital economy as a top priority, especially the development of AI, said an official from the district. As an early player in AI, Sci-Tech City is now home to a slew of high-profile research and development institutions with over 350 innovative projects. Founded in 1957, CAICT is a scientific research institute directly under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China. As a specialized government think-tank and industrial innovation and development platform, CAICT holds a service portfolio that spans everything from information and communication technology to the integration of information and communications technology and industries, such as 5G, internet of things and industrial internet. |
