Do you remember that the 15 top scholars in the world had a 2-day secret meeting at West Lake last year? They are winners of the Nobel Prize, Sun Yefang Prize and others, and even Jack MA, Chairman of the Board of Alibaba Group was tempted into being a day’s audience.

Again, such figures came and gathered at West Lake yesterday as the winner of Nobel Prize in Economics 2014, Professor Jean Tirole from Toulouse School of Economics (France), Jim Dempsey from School of Law (University of California, Berkeley) and other top global scholars in social science. This year, the meeting is focused on individual privacy protection.

Last June saw the birth of the research institute, which centers on subjects such as changes of social economics coming along with sci-tech innovation. The institute is proposed by Alibaba and initiated by top global figures namely in sociology, economics and psychology.
