Aloft on the wings of China's reform and opening-up policy, more than 60 million Chinese people have gone abroad to make a living since the 1970s.

As this year marks the 40th anniversary of the policy, a photo exhibition honoring the contribution of overseas Chinese to China's reform and opening up during the past 40 years opened in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, on Dec 8.

Featuring more than 130 photos, the exhibition, consisting of four parts, showcases the historic changes and achievements that China has made during the past four decades, and entrepreneurship, philanthropy, and support of overseas Chinese for the country's economic developments, as well as the expansion of international ties over the period.

"Zhejiang province is well known as the home to many overseas Chinese who have made great contributions to China's reform and opening up," said Tan Tianxing, deputy director of the United Front Work Department of CPC Central Committee, adding that Hangzhou is an important stop for the world tour of the photo exhibition.

To date, Zhejiang province has more than two million overseas Chinese in 180 countries and regions.

The exhibition has been displayed in Germany, Italy and Philippines.
