A cross-border e-commerce job fair was held in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province on Nov 17, with the aim of attracting international talents to locate to the emerging e-commerce hub.

The fair attracted around 6,000 university graduates and 400 international talents from 80 countries and regions around the world to seek jobs and business opportunities.

E-commerce giants including Amazon, Alibaba Group and NetEase also attended the fair to offer thousands of job opportunities.

"Over 60 percent of the presented overseas talents are postgraduates and above, 20 of them hold doctoral degrees," said Wu Changhong, an official from China (Hangzhou) Cross-Border E-commerce Comprehensive Pilot Area.

She believes that the true cross-border e-commerce talents are those who are inter-disciplinary and who can not only understand foreign trade and speak foreign languages, but also have a savvy mind towards the internet and the international market.

With the loosened policy for international talents to work in China, seeking internships becomes a popular choice for them to acquire working permits in the country, according to an official from My Homie, a living community for international students in China.

Roughly 3,000 talents reached preliminary employment agreements with the companies at the fair.
