The 2nd Hangzhou Grand Canal Protection and Awareness Week started in Hangzhou the other day. It is said that the host has even organized a “Modern Marco Polo Mission” to re-walk along six major heritage sites of the Hangzhou Section of the Grand Canal.

The Grand Canal, regarded as a national cultural card of China, is the longest ancient canal based on the heaviest work worldwide. The heritage application was approved in 2014 due to the efforts of 8 provinces along the canal, making it the 46th world cultural heritage of China.
