The Bank of Albania has said that Albania's annual inflation averaged 1.8 percent in the second quarter of 2015, which was below its target, the Albanian Daily News reported Tuesday.

    Low inflationary pressures continue to be determined by the below-potential growth of the economy, low inflation rates in trading partner countries and low inflation expectations, the bank said Monday in its newest monetary quarterly policy.

    This scenario will persist in the short term, but inflation is expected to return to target in the medium term due to expected stronger economic growth in the future.

    Moreover, Albania's central bank said that the country's economy grew 2.8 percent in the first quarter of 2015, driven by improvements in investment and external trade. Growth in the second quarter was similar to that in the previous quarter.

    The newspaper also said that in the medium term, economic activity in Albania is expected to continue its upward trajectory, reflecting favorable financing conditions and an improvement in economic and financial activities in the eurozone.
